When it comes to written Urdu, there are numerous things that can put even the most educated people off. One of them being the fact that Urdu's alphabet uses only one symbol for each consonant sound and three symbols for each vowel sound. The lack of clarity in written Urdu is so pronounced that even native speakers would struggle to be understood by someone who does not read and speak Urdu. But there is a way out: learning how to read and speak this beautiful language through its text rather than its phonetics. Here is a list of digitised texts which you can learn from at your own pace: https://docs.google. com/document/d/1GYoR8mY3YdQfF04jJKMwP40gza2Yb_b1qY-r4_o8rov8/edit?usp=sharing The aim of this project is to provide and promote and encourage children and young adults to read Urdu, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the Muslim community in the Middle East.
